Stay in the room for the entire 90 minutes (you can just lie down on your mat if you feel too tired). Bikram Yoga can be surprisingly difficult for the first few classes. Your body needs to get adapt to the heat and humidity (which is needed to improve your flexibility, ensure you don’t hurt yourself, and to help your body eliminate toxins). Your only goal in your first class is to stay in the room for the entire 90 minutes.
For your first class, pick a spot that is not in the first row so you can follow students in front of you. The Bikram beginner’s class consists of the same 26 postures and two breathing exercises in each class. Instructors do not demonstrate postures, but they provide detailed verbal instructions for performing each posture. As you listen to the instructions, observe the more advanced practitioners in front of you, and also look at yourself in the mirror to correct your posture and technique.
