Welcome
Your First Class
Every Bikram yoga class is exactly the same — 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, practised in a room heated to 40°C. That consistency is what makes it so effective, and it means your very first class is the same class that experienced practitioners have been doing for years.
You will be guided through every posture by your instructor using clear, precise dialogue. You don't need to know anything in advance — just follow the instructions, do your best, and rest whenever you need to.
Most students are surprised by how much they can do in their very first class. And almost everyone leaves feeling better than when they walked in.
What to Bring
What to Expect
Come at least 15 minutes before class. Complete your registration, get changed, and enter the hot room to let your body adjust.
Place your mat and towel anywhere in the room. There are no assigned spots — find a space where you can see the mirror clearly.
Your instructor will guide every posture with precise instructions. Listen, follow along, and do your best. Rest whenever you need to.
Drink plenty of water before the class and take it easy. Many students feel an immediate sense of calm and energy — enjoy it.

Common Questions
None at all. Every single class is suitable for complete beginners. The 26-posture series is the same every time, so you will quickly learn what to expect and how to progress.
A yoga mat, a large towel to place over your mat, a smaller towel for your face, and plenty of water. Wear light, minimal clothing — shorts and a singlet or sports bra are ideal.
The room is heated to 40°C with 40% humidity. It feels intense at first, but most students are surprised by how quickly they adapt. The heat warms your muscles and helps prevent injury.
This is completely normal, especially in your first few classes. Simply lie down on your mat and rest — there is no pressure to do every posture. Your instructor will support you.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your first class. This gives you time to complete a short registration form, get settled in the room, and let your body begin to adjust to the heat.
Avoid eating a heavy meal for at least 2 hours before class. A light snack 1–2 hours before is fine. Stay well hydrated throughout the day leading up to your class.
For your first week, try to come as often as possible — even daily if you can. The more you practice in the beginning, the faster your body adapts to the heat and the postures.
Many students come to Bikram yoga specifically to recover from injury or manage a health condition. Please let your instructor know before class so they can offer appropriate guidance.
